Writer, musician, producer and performer are just a few words to describe Alabama artist, a2z. Also a college graduate and CEO and Founder of KNGstar Records, a2z truly does it all. His unique sound encompasses a wide range of musical styles ranging from Hip-Hop and R&B to Rock and Pop. This stylistic diversity, complimented by a passionate delivery makes for a listening experience that is as entertaining as it is intellectually stimulating. This refreshing new sound is a 100% accurate representation of a2z, garnering the phrase, “26 letters don’t get no better.”

His debut album, Backpack 2 Briefcase, is a musical journey that brilliantly chronicles the growth and maturation of a2z as artist and individual through the experiences endured between the ages of 19 and 23. Growing up isn’t easy and this 4 ½ year span proved to be especially difficult given all the trials he encountered: adjusting to college life and the rigorous demands of being a student, accepting total responsibility for his wellbeing, maintaining a long-distance relationship, serving tables and working his way through school, learning to cope with real-world stress and fighting depression and deciding what to do after graduating. Mind you, this all while trying to develop his artistic style, build a company, define his brand and preserve his sanity. This juggling act was a constant fight to find balance between work, fun, rest and love and would prove to be the most integral learning experience thus far.

Backpack 2 Briefcase masterfully addresses all of these issues over a colorful musical landscape. The album provides a comprehensive glimpse into the process of growing into an adult; something that everyone can relate to. Whether it’s a boss that you hate, being in love, a class that you can’t pass, questions about your future, or just the desire to party like a freshman, the music is guaranteed to keep you listening, relating, thinking and moving.
