Mickey Buckins & The New Breed (not the similarly named Cortez Greer group), was a short-lived (1965-’67) but important Alabama-based soul group. Besides recording the great soul gem SILLY GIRL, Buckins became a significant songwriter and session musician, working with the likes of Bob Dylan, Dionne Warwick, Clarence Carter, Larry Gatlin, Mac Davis, Millie Jackson, Levon Helm, and The Oakridge Boys. Hear "Silly Girl" on Disk # 3 of the companion series to "The HeeeyBaby Days of Beach Music."
