Sarah L. Brooks-Berry

Homosassa, Florida

The Service of Remembrance for Mrs. Sarah L. Brooks-Berry, age 78, of Homosassa will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, July 17, 2009 at the Homosassa Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes with Pastor Alan Ritter officiating. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Thursday July 16, 2009 and 10:00 AM until the time of service Friday at the Homosassa Chapel. Interment will follow at Stage Stand Cemetery, Homosassa. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy take the form of memorial donations in Sarah’s name to HP Hospice, 12107 Majestic Blvd., Hudson, FL 34667.

Sarah received her Angel Wings and went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning, July 14, 2009. Sarah spent her final hours with her family at her side and under the loving care of the ladies at HP Hospice House in Lecanto, where she had been in residence since May. She was born on June 13, 1931, in Gurley, Alabama to the late Curtis E. Keel and Pearl Mae (Boyd) Keel.

Sarah was a retired cake decorator, serving 25 years at Publix. Sarah was a resident of Pinellas County, (Pinellas Park & Largo), from her younger years until moving to Citrus County in the early 1970’s.

Sarah was a member of the First Baptist Church of Homosassa, and a member of The Order of Eastern Star, Homosassa Springs Chapter 319. Her hobbies included arts & crafts, baking cakes, traveling to Bluegrass shows and being active with her church.

Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis F. “Woody” Brooks in 1986, her sister Evelyn Syfrett in 1995, and husband Thomas H. Berry in 2003. Sarah is survived by her son, Larry (Lynn) Brooks of Hernando; daughter, Debra (Carl) Faul of Crystal River; four grandchildren and six great-grand children, all of Crystal River; brother, Ben Keel of Homosassa; sisters, Joyce Greene of Homosassa and Margaret Davis of Beverly Hills; brother-in-law, Glen(Barbara) Brooks, of New Market, AL; sisters-in-law, Edith Brooks of Huntsville, AL and Frances Brooks of Kelso, TN. Nieces and nephews in Florida, Alabama, and Tennessee also survive her.
