Sharon Moore

Sharon Moore began her musical journey in her teens in San Antonio, Texas and would continue to compose and perform music throughout her career in San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, Nashville, and now on the Gulf Coast, around Mobile, Alabama. She has been a sought after vocalist for jazz festivals, live gigs, recording sessions and jingles. She has recently performed for the grand opening of the historic Battle House Hotel in Mobile, the Mobile Jazz Festival, the City of Mobile, the Gulf Coast Ethnic Heritage Festival opening for David Fathead Newman, the Daphne Jazz Festival, and other events. She will be presenting a program on Billie Holiday in Mobile, and will perform with pianist Sue Keller at the Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival in Sedalia, MO in June, presenting a show on composer Donald Ashwander.

She is preparing to record her second solo CD. Her music is played on local jazz radio and various jazz programs nationally and internationally. A Moment More was nominated for a 2001 Nashville Music Award for Best Jazz Album of the Year. While clearly sprung from a jazz foundation, the CD offers an eclectic mix of jazz, R&B, ragtime and more. Six of the twelve cuts are written or co-written by Sharon. Excellent production by Charlie Chadwick. Nashville favorite Victor Mecyssne sings a duet with Sharon on one of his own great songs; two are penned by the late Walter Hyatt, two by contemporary ragtime composer, Donald Ashwander and there is one Duke Ellington classic.

The musicians on the project are stellar - Catherine Styron, piano; Charlie Chadwick, bass; Michael Gallaher, guitar; Tom Giampietro, drums; Jim Hoke, clarinet, flute and harmonica; Neil Rosengarden, trumpet; Peter Hyrka, violin and viola and Muriel Anderson, classical guitar. Collectively, the musicians have toured and recorded with many diverse artists including Chet Atkins, Joe Cocker, Garth Brooks, Begee Adair, Rod McGaha, Merle Haggard, Leon Russell, Donna Summer, Kirk Whalum, Delbert McClinton and Steve Wariner.
