Rick Rorex is an Engineering Manager at ADTRAN, a local telecommunications company in Huntsville, AL. He is a self-taught

mandolin player and has been playing for over 30 years. He has played with a variety of groups throughout the southeast and many on

the national circuit. He most recently played in the Huntsville Mandolin Orchestra. Over the years he has played with several wellknown

artists at different venues such as James Monroe, the son of the legendary Bill Monroe, Hee Haw’s Ronni Stoneman and

country/bluegrass music star Allison Krauss. Rick has also competed and won the Alabama State Championship multiple times and

won first place at the Walnut Grove National flat-picking contest in 1994. This nationally known competition is held yearly in Kansas.

Rick has since written a mandolin workbook and currently provides private lessons and continues to play locally in the Huntsville

area.
