Her debut with jazz bands began in Birmingham with the `Fess' Whatley Orchestra. In the early years of her career, she performed with local musical groups as well as performing solo. For many years, she served as organist at the Church of the Master, New York, NY. She served as an interim organist at Greater Centennial A.M.E. Zion Church before resuming her career in the field of jazz. Mrs. Wallace recently completed a tour with Erskine Hawkins and the Birmingham Heritage Band. She has made appearances at the Academy of Arts and Letters, Carnegie Hall and Merkle Hall. She has served as accompanist for the Schubert Music Society and for many renown artists.

In 1985, Ms. Wallace retired from teaching after 30 years with the New York City Board of Education as a classroom teacher and Chair of the Music Department.
