Tuesday, September 08, 2009

Gospel singer Debbie White Smith is coming back home to the Carpenter's Cowboy Church's Cowboy Campmeeting at the Choo Choo Sunday at ll:30 a.m.

Ms Smith refers to the Carpenter's Cowboy Church as her home church. She has had an ongoing relationship with the church for 14 years and this will be the first time in almost three years since she last sang publicly.

In the midst of her singing career, Ms. Smith became ill and ultimately suffered a blood clot that created a need to amputate her right leg to save her life. Her recently recorded project called Refined has already seen the first single released, She's Gonna Be Alright, which was number one on the charts.

Ms. Smith won the nomination for top 10 female artist of 2008 from the Inspirational Country Music Awards in Nashville.

In the year 2000, the governor of the state of Alabama presented a resolution to have her name placed in the Alabama Music Hall of Fame. She has won numerous awards including Top Female Artist for the CGMA and The Guild. She has performed with Colin Ray, Mark Wills, Linda Davis, Marty Raybon, T. Graham Brown and Jo Ann Cash.

The church's pastor Eugene Coleman said, "People are naturally drawn to her because of her southern charm, her beauty, her voice and her ability to relate in all the songs she sings. The people of the Carpenter's Cowboy Church are all very eager to have her perform this Sunday. It is going to be like homecoming again."
